I’ve tried so hard to love fruit cake. There’s nothing more synonymous with the holidays than the dense, sticky treat. From carols to holiday movies, books, and television shows, fruit cake appears again and again. With origins as far back as Ancient Rome, the fruit forward dessert has stood the test of time. But, as much as I love the components of dried fruits, spices, and nuts, I have to admit that I’ve never loved fruit cake itself. And that’s exactly why I created this Fruit Cake Dip.

How to Make Fruit Cake Dip
You can use either a stand mixer or a large bowl and a handheld mixer. The important part is that you remember to scrape your bowl between each new addition to ensure the mixture is coming together well. You start by adding the softened cream cheese to the bowl of a stand mixer with a paddle attachment and whip on medium for 1 minute. Next you add the vanilla pudding mix, brown sugar, and cinnamon to the cream cheese and beat for 30 seconds, scraping the bowl halfway through. And finally you add the whipped topping, pecans, and all the dried fruit to the bowl of the stand mixer with the cream cheese mixture and beat on medium for one minute, scraping the bowl halfway through until fully combined.
How to Serve Christmas Cake Dip
Serve Fruit Cake Dip with graham crackers or vanilla cookies for dipping. You can also dip fresh fruit like strawberries, apples, or pears into the dip for a lighter flavor profile. Serve Fruit Cake Dip is a fun addition to your Christmas buffet or as a dessert with a variety of cookies and fruits.
Variations
You can change this recipe up a little by using freshly made whipped cream in place of the whipped topping, using walnuts or pistachios in place of the pecans, and using a different flavored pudding like pistachio. Don’t be afraid to try different holiday fruit mixes too. Make it your own!
